According to the Dutch Immigration Service, 6,100 UK nationals who received a letter urging them to apply for a Dutch residence have not yet replied with a little more than a month to go before Britain becomes a non-EU republic (IND).
The Withdrawal Agreement marking the end of the Brexit saga states that Brits residing in the Netherlands are expected to register by the end of the year in order to be legally/legally resident in Europe.
According to the IND, while a total of 34,000 UK nationals remaining in the Netherlands have been told of their rights before 1 August and until the end of October, SchengenVisaInfo.com states that only 28,300 individuals have formally submitted an application to stay in the Netherlands.
Despite the fact that, under the rules of the withdrawal agreement, Britons are eligible to resolve their residency status until the end of June 2021, from the end of 2020, they have to be able to prove that they are authorized to reside in the Netherlands, such as applying for healthcare, the IND has pointed out.
According to the Dutch Immigration Service, approximately 95 per cent of the applications submitted so far have been accepted, while only 1 per cent have been refused.
The Agency also emphasized that about 1,500 nationals who did not obtain a letter concerning their status from the Dutch Immigration Service have also asked to remain.

In that regard, Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom said that the move fulfilled his pledge to British people that the United Kingdom would regain control of its borders, while welcoming the decision.
Authorities in the Netherlands reported in July that Dutch nationals who are in the United Kingdom can soon be able to maintain dual nationality. And while Dutch senators have passed the bill, it has not yet been enabled.
Dutch nationals living in the United Kingdom will be able to maintain their citizenship when the legislation takes effect, in the event that they also need to gain UK citizenship. The legislation will help people to ensure that their citizenship rights are covered if after the Brexit transition period, their rights are violated in Britain.
When the Brexit transition period ends on 31 December, citizens of the United Kingdom will be required to comply with the various travel rules followed by third-country nationals, including passport rules, health insurance, and a limited number of days in which to stay in countries of the European Union.
The Home Office announced last month that over four million applications for the EU Settlement Scheme have been submitted, enabling EU people in the United Kingdom to continue residing there, indicating that the target has been achieved eight months before the deadline of 30 June 2021.
